| Sam Broussard |
A highly creative guitarist (as heard on my CD) and songwriter. He's played with a long list of artists from Michael Martin Murphy (that's Sam's intro lick on 'Wildfire') to current gig with Grammy nominated Cajun group Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys. His solo project Geeks is a marvel. |

| Shad Weathersby |
I’ve produced two of Shad’s four CD projects. The first, Light Outside That Door, featuring New Orleans legends Red Tyler and The Zion Harmonizers, has recently been re-mastered and re-released on Rolling Road. The second, Dreamworld, is once again filled with his signature grit and wit. Behold The Light expresses his spiritual side while his CD for children, Chomp, Chomp eared a Parent’s Choice award. A life-long resident of New Orleans, Shad is currently aiding in that devastated city’s restoration. |

| David Bankston |
A brilliant and dynamic singer and songwriter - and I do mean Singer. His solo CD project, Galvez Town, which I had the privilege to produce, embodies powerful emotions and sense of place. A lyric writer of great insight, I’m looking forward to #2. |
|
| Neale Lundgren |
Signed to Columbia Records at the tender age of 16, Neale was a child phenon. A gifted and charismatic singer/songwriter, Neale has released two solo albums, Breaking Open and Time of the Harvest, and two with the world-fusion ensemble Cypress: Diamond or Stone and Pouring Light. |

a few other friends whose music I must mention: |
|
| George Winston |
Much has been written and said about George since his breakthrough album Autumn was released in 1980. Friends since early 70’s, I recall us listening to it just after the recording and thinking, “There’s something emanating from this music that’s greater than the music itself”. 25 years, many albums and a Grammy later, it’s apparent a few million others have felt that “something” as well. So happy he participated in my project by playing piano on ‘This Healing Heart’. |
|
| Phil deGruy |
What can I say about Phil? Let’s see…mmm… the bastard son of Lenny Bruce and Lenny Breau? I can’t do justice to any description of his talent or personality. With brilliant solo albums on his 17- string harp guitar with titles like Innuendo Out The Other; Hello Dali; and Just Duet, you may get a clue. His ‘Imagine’ on my project is inspired. Displaced by Katrina for six months, he’s back in New Orleans now. Thank God or other - The city needs him now more than ever. |

| Mack Starks |
When incredible engineer/producer Richard McLaurin handed me his just-finished former Farmer Not So John band mate’s first solo album, I was blown sideways. Sighting my favorite CDs of ’03 in an email to friends: “Mack Starks - elsewhere: I move to Nashville home of Country Music - and find one of the most astounding Pop/rock singer/songwriters I've yet heard. Go Figure!” Mack’s newly released Blind Spot, is again filled with great writing and powerful emotional depth. Now…in a just world…. |
|
| Malcolm Holcombe |
Introduced to Malcolm by my old friend, guitarist Sam Broussard, shortly after arriving in Nashville, I was stunned and mesmerized by his songwriting, voice and powerful stage presence. He seemed from another world. His songs, filled with characters and images of Appalachia, are poetic, melodic and often mysterious. The paper said: “A Hobo Oracle”. Richard McLaurin and I produced a stellar, as-yet-unreleased, album with him that we hope one day will see the light of day. |
|
| Mark Sloniker |
Brian Gardner at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood turned me on to Mark’s wonderful first album Paths of Heart. As A&R exec for an L.A. record label at the time, I met, signed and produced his next two projects, True Nature and Perfectly Human. Mark is indeed a truly special human, and those experiences working with him were a natural ‘high’ for me. His new CD of solo piano, The Night In Black & White, is sublimely beautiful. |
|
| Steve Conn |
Last, but not in the least way least, is Mr. Conn. A brother from Louisiana, he embodies the soul of that state. His latest CD, Steve Conn, like his first, River of Madness, takes on our troubled world and beyond with the swagger of LA grooves and soulful voice. He’s played with Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson and The Dixie Chicks, among many. First and foremost a songwriter of immense passion, he’s unafraid to dig deep at times and have a hardy laugh at others. |

A few artists and others I’ve been inspirited and motivated by:
(I realize they are all ‘older’, but show me a young writer in this league and I’ll add ‘em to the list.)
